"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."
Ps 27:14
In the stillness of a new year, the words of Ps 27:14 resonate as a comforting balm for the wounded heart. "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." These verses unveil a profound truth: within the patience of waiting lies the mending of our wounded hearts. Scripture teaches us that God wants us to actively participate in the work he desires to accomplish. Waiting strategically can cultivate good fruit in our lives, such as patience, perseverance, and endurance. It also draws us closer to our Savior. "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land; But for you, O Lord, do I wait; it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer.” Christ is the answer! He is your rest and the treasure you seek. Let's wait for the Lord.
As we stand on the threshold of a fresh season, the call to "wait for the Lord" beckons us to a space of hopeful anticipation. It's an invitation to relinquish the burdens of the past to lay our wounded hearts before the Divine Healer. The waiting is not passive; it is an active trust, a conscious choice to be strong in faith. Any time that we go through times of waiting, God wants us to continue living and keep serving Him until He brings our waiting season to its appointed end. And we do this because He is God, He is still in control, and He has a plan for our lives as well. Waiting for the Lord is an act of faith that extends beyond the ticking of a clock. It's an acknowledgment that the Divine timeline unfolds perfectly, mending what is broken at precisely the right moment. In the waiting, we learn to synchronize our heartbeat with the rhythm of grace.
In the tapestry of waiting, strength is woven. It's a strength born not of force but of resilience. The healing process requires us to be strong, to confront our vulnerabilities with courage, and to trust that, in the waiting, a transformative work is unfolding within us. "Take heart," the psalmist urges, reminding us that hope is not lost. In the waiting, we find the courage to embrace the scars of yesterday, understanding that they contribute to the beauty of our story. Each moment of patience becomes a step toward restoration, a healing salve applied to the wounds that have marked our journey. As we step into the new year, let the words of Psalm 27:14 be an anthem for our wounded hearts. Let us wait with expectancy, be strong in the face of challenges, and take heart in the knowledge that a divine renewal awaits.
May this season of waiting become a sacred space where healing blossoms, and may our hearts find solace in the promise of a brighter, restored tomorrow.
Ps 21:14 tells us to “be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” In circumstances of waiting, we can cling to hope knowing that situations don't last forever. We can rely on God for peace even in the unknown. Waiting is one of God’s favorite tools to get our attention. Noah waited for the rain. Daniel waited through the night with a den full of lions. David waited in the cave. Abraham and Sarah waited 25 years for the arrival of their promised son, Isaac. Joseph waited 13 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Moses waited 40 years to be called by God. Paul waited in prison. And even Jesus waited 30 years to begin His ministry, though He was well equipped long before. If God asked even Jesus to wait, why do we think He should speed up the process for us? Waiting is a universal weakness. The Lord enters our journey when we wait on Him. May we continue to trust Him as He reveals Himself along the way.
