Surrendered Success while Navigating Life's Journey.

"Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed." Prov ‭16:3‬

Committing our work to the Lord, as mentioned in Proverbs 16:3, involves acknowledging God's sovereignty and seeking His guidance in our plans and endeavors. It means aligning our goals and actions with God's will and trusting in His wisdom and provision. Giving our plans over to the Lord sounds great, but generally, we're unwilling to give up control or even the appearance of it can be difficult to let go and let God. When we plan without involving God, most often things go wrong, and we're left with mangled plans and broken dreams. Nothing surprises God because the future is laid out before Him like a path. When we submit our plans to Him, He knows exactly what’s going to happen and at what time. He’s a master planner. God has backup plans for our backup plans. For every problem we have, He has a million solutions, and He knows how each one of those situations will turn out. I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to turn my plans over to God.

God promises to establish our plans, to put the right plans for us in our hearts when we commit to him every day. As Christians, our lives of discipleship require true intentionality and clarity of vision.

An essential part of a robust and vibrant spiritual life is a clear plan for growth. As it says in Prov 29:18, “Where there is no vision,ñ the people perish." We can not stumble our way towards holiness or fall into a life of mature discipleship without a clear plan. While we're always led and empowered by the grace of God, we still must pursue God in intentional and deliberate ways.

Prov 16:3 strikes a harmonious chord, urging us to entrust our endeavors to the Lord. As we commit our actions to His guidance, a divine assurance unfolds a promise that our plans find success in alignment with His will.

Consider the journey of Joseph, whose commitment to righteousness in the face of adversity led to unforeseen triumph. His story resonates with Prov 16:3, illustrating that when actions are aligned with God's purpose, success unfolds in unexpected ways. The construction of the Ark by Noah is another testament to the fulfillment of plans surrendered to God. Amid skepticism and challenges, Noah's commitment to God's command paved the way for the preservation of life, showcasing the triumphant outcome of actions entrusted to the Lord. David, anointed as king in his youth, faced numerous trials on the path to his reign. Yet, his commitment to God's calling propelled him toward success, illustrating how surrendering one's actions to the Lord results in the flourishing of divinely orchestrated plans. Paul's missionary journeys exemplify commitment to God's will. Despite hardships, his unwavering dedication led to the spread of the Gospel.

What we all have in common at the beginning of a new year is the hope that something will change, and life will be different and better. Our hopes and plans should always be released into the capable hands of the ultimate Life-Changer. Christ is our perfect example to follow when we make changes or plans. We have the perfect guidebook: His Word and the perfect companion to strengthen our resolve, His Spirit. By doing so, we acknowledge that our ultimate success and fulfillment come from God, and we invite Him to establish and guide our plans according to His purpose. As we navigate the tapestry of our own lives in a new season, may the biblical narratives inspire us to trust in divine guidance. Committing our actions to the Lord ensures that our plans align with His purpose, paving the way for success beyond our earthly understanding.
