“I lift up my eyes to the mountains where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Ps 121:1-2
In the peaks of joy and the valleys of despair, we find solace in these verses. When life's burdens weigh heavy, our gaze turns upward, seeking refuge in the mountains. As Christians, our anchor lies in the Lord, the Creator of the vast heavens and the solid earth beneath our feet. God isn’t a cloud, a mystery, or an invisible being who dwells in the sky. He’s our Almighty Father, and we're His precious children. As believers, we’re not exempt from worry, but we’re called to approach our fears with a different perspective. We’re invited to shift our focus from the problems surrounding us to the One who holds the universe in His hands. God’s care for His children is not limited to the grandiose; it extends to the tiniest details of daily life. The Creator of all lacks no power or ability to intervene in your daily lives. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” Ps 46:1-3,
Amidst life’s hardships, God lovingly tells us to cast our anxieties on Him. 1 Pet. 5:7-9. He knows our hearts and cares deeply about every aspect of our lives. As we surrender our fears and worries to Him, we experience the peace that surpasses all understanding and find comfort in His unfailing love. Facing the giant Goliath, David declared, "The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine" 1 Samuel 17:37. His unwavering trust in God's past faithfulness fortified him for the battles ahead. In a world marked by stress and anxiety, God offers an anchor for our restless souls. Many of us are beset by storms and feel we must navigate life’s challenges on our own. But the truth is, we have a heavenly Father who is ever-present and eager to handle our anxieties. “My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than I all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.” John 10:29
We serve a God who's a mighty Creator over all life's problems. He works for us around the clock. He does not take days off, and neither does He sleep. In fact, He's so eager to work for us that he goes around looking for more work to do for people who will trust him: “The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him” 2 Chro 16:9. God loves to show His tireless power, wisdom and goodness by working for people who trust Him. The sending of His Son, Jesus, was the main way the Father showed His love: "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served; he came to serve and to give his life to redeem many people.” Mark 10:45 "Do not be afraid—I am with you! I am your God—let nothing terrify you! I will make you strong and help you; I will protect you and save you." Isaiah 41:10. Whatever we endure, His care is certain, His love is unfailing, and His promises are secure.
Just as these biblical figures found their help in the Lord, so can we. When the path seems uncertain, and our strength wanes, we can draw on the promises of Psalm 121. By abiding in Christ, our steps are ordered by a divine hand. The Lord's unwavering vigilance, never slumbering nor sleeping, assures us of constant protection. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1, Amidst life’s hardships, God lovingly tells us to cast our anxieties on Him 1 Pet. 5:7. Embrace the profound truth that our hope rests in the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth, whether in joy or sorrow. As Christians, we can lift our heads and find our hope in the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. When we abide with Christ and have a relationship with Him, God establishes our every step, and He won’t allow our foot to be moved. He will keep us on the straight and narrow path. And because the Lord never needs to sleep, we can trust Him to watch over us 24/7. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Eph 6:10
